Java Developer | Finance | Amsterdam | Contract

One of my market leading financial clients in Amsterdam is urgently seeking a Java Developer for a long-term contract paying excellent rates. If you like it, you will never have to leave.

  • Solid understanding of operating, maintaining and developing against NoSQL/Low Latency Data Store (LLDS) Solutions e.g. Cassandra
  • Strong knowledge of Java 7/8 including the Spring framework 3.x/4.x and/or JEE 6.0/7.0.
  • Strong knowledge of Scala
  • You have real world OO design experience and knowledge of design patterns, combined with an ability to succinctly convey design information using suitable tools
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in creating high scalability mission-critical applications
  • Experienced with Agile development & Scrum
  • Version Management, GIT, Continuous Integration
  • Comfortable with collaboration and open communication
  • Platform engineering / Total stack experience is hugely beneficial (e.g. Linux, Puppet, Python, scripting, …)


The Java developer will perform the following responsibilities

  • Take ownership of distributed data solutions which are used by the squads and provide consultancy on these solutions
  • Investigate, understand and choose the right tool(s) for the job to be done and ensure that the squads are capable to use them
  • Industrialize a data solution, so that it can be used seamlessly by the squads
  • Continuously monitor and improve efficiency, quality and time-to-market through in-depth automation of building, testing and deployment
  • Phasing-out data solutions that have reached the end of their life cycle
  • Streamlining team’s development process from code check-ins, automated deployment and acceptance testing, all the way towards production.
  • Industrializing the chosen distributed data platforms.
